Alaska Mission Trip (June 2026)

The Shelby Baptist Association will be hosting a mission trip to Anchorage, Alaska

 

June 21-29 (Greater Friendship Baptist Church Celebration)

** PLEASE NOTE:  IF YOU ARE REGISTERING FOR SOMEONE ELSE PLEASE BE SURE TO PUT THEIR NAME AND CONTACT INFORMATION. EACH PERSON’S CONTACT INFORMATION IS REQUIRED FOR US TO GET THEM REGISTERED FOR THE TRIP.**

 

I. Trip Overview:
A. Trip Dates: June 21-29, 2026
B. Trip Costs:
1. Lodging, Meals, Resource Fees, and T-Shirt: See Handout
2. Transportation:
a) Each participant has the option to drive or fly (additional fee from the above discussed fees)
b) Flying & Driving options will be handled by each individual.
3. Each person will be responsible for his/her own meals anytime he/she chooses to go sightseeing.
C. Lodging:
1. First Baptist Church Anchorage:
a) Rooms: In the basement of the church’s main building
b) Showers/Restroom: ladies will have 3 showers on the third floor of the main building—men will utilize the Disaster Relief Shower Unit stationed outside of the main building.
c) Beds are single size, queen size and a few king size. If possible, couples will share a room. Linens, pillows, blankets, towels and washcloths are provided. (We are responsible for laundering them)
d) In addition, there are cots available if needed.
2. Traveling and Sightseeing lodging, if needed due to an extended stay or arriving early, are at your own expense.
D. Meals:
1. There is a commercial kitchen in the main building.
2. We will have a team cooking led by Lisa Camp.
3. If you have dietary needs due to health issues advance notice is requested to accommodate.
4. Any meals you choose to eat away from FBCA or during the service projects are at your own expense.
II. Ministry/Mission Needs:
A. Mission Team Total 35-40 people
1. Hospitality and Service Team:
a) Possible Medical Projects—Nutrition, Mental Health, Mammograms,
b) Optometry Projects
c) Canvas the Neighborhood—promote ministry
d) Prayer Walks
e) Block Parties
f) Mobile Grill
g) Landscaping
h) Transportation for Groceries
i) Mobile Food Pantry
j) Anniversary Celebration: Setup, Serve, Cleanup, etc…
k) Landscaping
l) Light Construction/Building Maintenance
B. Trip Timeline:
1. Non-refundable deposit of $110 due—Feb. 1
2. Team Training Meeting: May 17, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the SBA office.
3. Final payment: $200 due May 17, 2026
C. All Participants will need to register on the SBA website through our Eventbrite Registration.
D. SBA Requirements:
1. Background Checks
2. Ministry Safe Training (A certificate dated in the last 2 years will suffice)
3. Van/Equipment Drivers:
a) DMV Background Check
b) Clean Driving Record
c) Hightop Van Online Training
