Our Mission

Vision Statement:

The Shelby Baptist Association works in partnership with her member churches of Shelby County to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through missions and ministries both locally and throughout the world. Our vision is to see each church work individually and collectively to make Christ known through an authentic Christ-like discipleship, demonstrating the relevance of Jesus to a world in need of love and purpose. We are on a mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ by meeting the needs of those we encounter.

Mission Statement:

“Making Disciples by Meeting Needs in Cooperation with Our Member Churches.”

Core Values of the SBA

Christ:

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20

Character:

Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out. Proverbs 10:9

Compassion:

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Colossians 3:12

Cooperation:

Complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Philippians 2:2

Mission Emphasis:

Encourage:

At the SBA we want to Encourage our churches and pastors to keep the faith and not give up the hope given to us by our Lord Jesus to fulfill His calling on His churches and our lives.
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works… Hebrews 10:24

Equip:

In a post-pandemic world, new strategies are evolving in how to best reach an unregenerate world. These new strategies are essential in a fast-changing world. Therefore, the SBA strives to assist her member churches in being prepared for the task of Making Disciples by Meeting Needs.
Command and teach these things. 1 Timothy 4:11

Empower:

When over seventy percent of the churches in the SBA running less than 100 each week, they often need the tools and resources to accomplish their mission. We are available to help the member churches find the necessary resources to fulfill the mission God has placed on His churches.
As it is written, Whoever gathered much had nothing left over, and whoever gathered little had no lack. 2 Corinthians 8:15

Engage:

We strive to engage the member churches to be on mission in a balanced Acts 1:8 strategy by partnering with other like-minded ministries and churches in serving and sharing in our local context all the way to the uttermost parts of the world.
I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. Philippians 1:3-5
